Recticel has added a soybean oil based PU foam PureFeel(R) to its Body Foams product range. Wetteren, Belgium, January 26, 2009 – In line with the growing environmental awareness in the entire apparel market, Recticel now offers lingerie manufacturers the choice to source environmentally friendly PureFeel polyurethane (PU) foam. This eco-friendly foam uses in part soybean based polyol as raw material. As Bert Van Langendonck, Sales and Marketing Manager, explains: Bio-polyols leave a smaller environmental footprint as substituting traditional petrochemical polyol with bio- based polyol will results in 36% less global warming emissions, 61% less non-renewable energy use and 23% less total energy demand. Moreover, for every 1 million pounds of bio-polyol used, approximately 2,200 barrels of crude petroleum is saved for other uses. We have done a lot of internal testing and we now look forward to further optimising and enlarging the PureFeel product range together with our customers, elaborates Helga Laporte, Product Manager. Recticel has always been committed to keep the impact from industrial activities on the living environment to a minimum by optimising its processes to limit, for example, waste and airborne emissions. The Group also attaches a great deal of importance to the rational use of energy. The new bio-based PureFeel PU foam fits perfectly in this picture. PureFeel will be introduced to the public during the Hong Kong Mode Lingerie Exhibition on April 7-8, 2009.

During its first participation to the Interfilière exhibition in Lyon, Recticel launched its new trade mark Body Foams®. The trade mark will be applied to the full range of polyurethane foams developed for the bodywear and intimate apparel sector. This includes the well-known brand Bulfast, light stable polyurethane foam, and optical white foams.

This year, Recticel will participate for the first time in the Lyon Mode City and Interfilière exhibition, which will take place during the first weekend of September (Sep. 1-3) in Lyon, France.
